Letterkenny CDP

Letterkenny Community Development Project provides services to people who are disadvantaged in the community. Working with people of all ages and abilities the voluntary organisation uses a self-help approach that enables each individual to improve their lives, health and wellbeing.

Services touch all ages and cover many issues. The community garden encourages a healthy diet and the Men’s Shed, supported by the HSE is focused on men’s health and wellbeing.

All the programmes are supported by a huge voluntary effort enabling Letterkenny Community Development to continue to have a huge positive impact on the local community.

Ray Community Group

Ray Community Group provides recreational, educational and social events for members of the community designed to help to improve physical and mental health. The activities and programmes are met with great enthusiasm and community buy-in.

The Men on the Move initiative was one of the most successful in Ireland and resulted in increased fitness levels, better mental health and increased social circles for participants. Such was the success, initiatives for women, children and teenagers were also started.

The Ray Community Group is run by a committee of volunteers who are invested in their area and the centre impacts the wider area by creating community cohesion preventing social isolation.

Letterkenny Youth & Family Services

Letterkenny Youth & Family Services (LYFS) provides needs-based support services for hard to reach individuals and families who currently do not access services and are experiencing economic, social, educational, and community disadvantage.

Having operated in Letterkenny for over 17 years LYFS has had a significant impact on the health and wellbeing of a huge number of individuals and families. The deliver programmes and initiatives that allow participants to move into a more positive position for their futures.

Based in the heart of the community it is accessible to all and offers a non-judgmental and inclusive approach to its work.
