New display at airport showcases county’s beauty

PASSENGERS arriving at Donegal Airport in Carrickfinn can enjoy a spectacular new display of some of the county’s beauty spots as part of a new tourism initiative.

The display of images, which highlight a selection of local attractions, was unveiled at the airport last week.

The images will complement a new tourism information portal which is also now in operation.

Joan Crawford of Fáilte Ireland said the display of local attractions and experiences are a beautiful addition.

“They allow us to showcase just some of what we have on offer in Donegal,” she said.

“The aim is to get visitors to stay that bit longer in the county and with the tourist information facility, they will have information, ideas and suggestions before going on their journey.”

Ms Crawford said the latest investment at Donegal Airport comes at the start of what will hopefully be a busy tourist season. She added that it’s important that the county benefits from the increase in passenger numbers using the airport’s service to both Glasgow and Dublin this year.

“That helps to make Donegal Airport a key gateway to the Wild Atlantic Way,” Ms Crawford added.

Among the images that will greet inbound passengers is a photo of local musician Mairéad Ní Mhaonaigh and she was among the guests who attended last week’s unveiling event.
