Man who died while hill walking in Donegal is named

A MAN has died following a fall while he was hill walking in Donegal on Saturday, April 20.

The Derry man, aged in his 50s, has been named locally as Brian Campbell.

Gardaí and local rescue services were notified of an incident involving two hill walkers at the Poisoned Glen area of Dunlewey around 1pm on Saturday.

One of the individuals, a male in his late 50s, sustained fatal injuries after a fall.

Following a recovery operation, he was taken from the mountain and transported to the mortuary at Letterkenny University Hospital.

The second, also a male in his late 50s, suffered injuries and was airlifted from the scene to Letterkenny University Hospital.

His injuries are not life-threatening.

The local Coroner has been informed, and preparations are being made for a post-mortem examination.
