A STAR-studded judging panel has been announced for this year’s Belle of Bundoran GAA Fundraiser which happens on Friday, May 31, at Bundoran’s Great Northern Hotel.

All Ireland medal winner and GAA Allstar Karl Lacey makes a return to this year’s panel following the inaugural Belle last year. Little did Karl know this time last year what an eventful year he would have – now with an All-Ireland medal and a 3 GAA Allstars to his name, GAA Player of the Year Karl makes a welcome return to this year’s panel.

Joining him will be a face that everyone in Donegal and indeed the whole country will be familiar with – TV3’s Noel Cunningham. Noel is a regular on the couch on Ireland AM and recently brought his family onto the popular Family Fortunes game show. An affable host, Noel is currently hospitality manager at Harvey’s Point Country Hotel at Lough Eske.

Also making her debut on the judging panel is Oonagh O’Carroll, co-host of the popular morning show on iRadio – I Wake Up with Dave and Oonagh. She is looking forward to getting to Bundoran and meeting all the belles. From the small screen, actor Chris Newman makes his first visit to the seaside town – a far cry from locations like the set of Love/Hate, Song For A Raggy Boy and the recent award-winning “Saving The Titanic”. Chris has also just finished filming “Jack and Ralph Plan A Murder” which is currently in post production and is looking forward to his first ever surfing lesson the morning after the Belle!

Last but not least and not long off the Helix stage representing Team Kian, the man who had Donegal viewers on the edges of their seats for the past few Sundays, Shane McLaughlin – 3rd place runner up in this year’s Voice of Ireland and our fifth and final judge for this year’s Belle of Bundoran. Shane is looking forward to being part of the judging team and who knows, we might even persuade him to sing a few songs for us.

The Belle of Bundoran is Bundoran GAA Club’s biggest fundraiser of the year and an important date in the social calendar of the town. Event organiser James Keaney said: “Realt Na Mara GAA has a firm place in the community and we would like to thank everybody for their support of the club and all of our fundraising activities to date. It’s important that as many young people in the area are involved with sports and fundraisers such as the Belle of Bundoran go a long way to helping make sure we have the facilities and equipment needed to support the youth of the area who may one day go on to play for their county.”

The event will once again be hosted by UTV’s Paul Clark.

If you know someone who would make a great Belle of Bundoran, there’s still time to enter them! Entries close soon and the entry forms can be downloaded now from www.belleofbundoran.com
