Donegal singers to go head to head in Glór Tíre final

TWO up and coming country music stars from Donegal will go head to head tomorrow night for the title of Ireland’s Glór Tíre Country Music Champion 2024.

Ramelton’s Jason McCahill and Dunfanaghy’s Chelsea Evans will be taking to the stage tomorrow night to perform for the last time in front of the Glór Tíre judges.

Receiving the public’s vote last Tuesday night, Jason admits to a rush of emotions as his name was called out.

“There was a wee fist pump, but it hasn’t sunk in yet,” he says.

“Honestly, I was standing on the stage saying to myself, I’m just happy to have gone as far as I’ve got. That’s all changed now, we’re going for the big one next week,” he said.

Expressing his gratitude to all that voted, Jason said they made a “wee” village man from Ramelton very, very happy.

Meanwhile, Chelsea is thrilled at the support she has received since first appearing on Glór Tíre in March, and she is especially grateful for the support from her native county.

Not wanting this experience to end, Chelsea said she would love to go back and do it all again.

Chelsea, from Dunfanaghy, Co. Donegal, has described her Glór Tíre journey as “surreal” and “overwhelming”.

The Glór Tire Grand Final is on TG4 on Tuesday, April 23 at 9.30 pm and will be presented by Aoife Ní Thuairisg.
