THE annual Earagail Arts Festival is delighted to welcome back some old friends, the Ponydance Theatre Company, who will be performing three shows in West Donegal during this year’s festival which runs to July 21.

Leonie McDonagh is the artistic director of the Ponydance Theatre Company who are bringing one of their brilliant original productions to this year’s 25th annual festival.

Where did it all go right? is a confection of moves and movement to a soundtrack of garish music and nervous tension set in a pub with four outstanding performers dance their way into hearts, minds and underwear. You’ll laugh and cringe.

It all began nearly eight years ago when Leonie and her friends that she met in Dublin and also at the London Contemporary Dance School decided to put together a show for the Boyle Arts Festival in Roscommon; the next year it was two shows (Sligo, Galway).

Eight years on, the Belfast-based Galway native said Ponydance have already been to Canada, Australia and America and are a due to go back to the States, as well as New Zealand.

“I think our best audiences have been in Dublin and Ireland, they definitely get our sarcastic humour. We were terrified of bringing out shows to America for the first time, as they tend to be very interactive, full of implication, gut the audiences there were great; it’s really pretty universal humour so people all around the world can get it, no matter what language.”

Leonie said the show is full of laughter and said the best place you will want to sit during this show, is the very front as it will be a fantastic experience.

Ponydance will perform their show in the following three locations around the North West of the county: Dunfanaghy, Holy Trinity Parish Hall, Thursday, July 11, 8pm; Áislann Rann na Feirste, Friday, July 12, 8pm; Derrybeg, Teach Mhicí, Saturday, July 13, 3pm.
