Tailbacks in Letterkenny as Bank Holiday traffic causes lengthy delays

Motorists are advised that traffic is extremely heavy in and around Letterkenny this Bank Holiday Monday afternoon.

The town played host to the North West 10k earlier this morning and traffic restrictions were in place before and during the event.

However, despite those restrictions being lifted, there are now tailbacks in parts of the town due to the busy Bank Holiday traffic.

The worst of the queues are being experienced along Ramelton road coming in towards Letterkenny.

At 1.30pm, traffic was backed out as far as The Fairways and many motorists choosing to use the Kiltoy route into town are also experiencing delays.

With Bank Holiday weekend visitors making their way back home, the traffic is likely to be extremely busy for the rest of today.

UPDATE: The tailbacks had eased considerably in the Ramelton Road, Kiltoy area by 5.30pm.
