Donegal musician set to “rock” tonight’s Eurosong special

DONEGAL musician Aisling Jarvis is set to “rock out” on tonight’s Late Late Show Eurosong alongside her “bestie” Ailsha.

Taking to social media earlier in the week, Aisling described the experience as being the “coolest thing ever”.

Aisling, who is the daughter of Clannad’s Moya Brennan, is a singer, producer and composer who is based in Dublin.

Despite mainly growing up in Dublin, Aisling said Donegal has always been the place she feels most “connected” to.

“I grew up being in Donegal every other week, and spending our summers up in Gweedore, and it has always been the most magical place for me.

“There is nowhere in the country quite like it, the people, the landscapes, the craic, and even though I’ve travelled the world, Donegal is my favourite place to be!

“I love it so much, that I fell in love and am engaged to a beautiful Donegal woman!,” she said.

On tonight’s show, Aisling will be accompanying Ailsha on guitar as they perform their entry ‘Go Tobann’.

Urging the public to vote for their entry, Aisling said it is her dream to be part of Europe’s biggest show.

“The Eurovision experience so far has been incredible, such a whirlwind.

“I have always loved the Eurovision (the Brennan family have always been mad for the Eurovision), but until you’re in it, it’s hard to grasp quite how huge the fan base for the Eurovision really is!

“The reaction to ‘Go Tobann’ from the wider European Eurovision fans has been so amazing, and it’s given us such a boost to just go out there, give it our all, and above all else, enjoy ourselves!

“Let’s get the Irish language back on the Eurovision stage for only the second time ever,” she said.

A ‘Voting Party’ has been organised by Aisling’s fiancé in The Cottage Bar in Letterkenny tonight at 9pm.

There is also going to be a watch party in Leo’s Tavern in Gweedore tonight.

“I am chuffed to have Donegal behind us, it means so much to all of us!,” Aisling said.

Tonight six hopefuls will battle it out to represent Ireland in Malmö, Sweden in May of this year at the 68th Eurovision Song Contest.

Viewers at home will have the opportunity to cast their vote for their favourite song and help to decide who will represent Ireland at this year’s Eurovision Song Contest.

The winner of tonight’s Eurosong will then perform at the Eurovision Song Contest, in front of an audience of over 160 million people worldwide.

The winner will be chosen by a combination of National Jury, International Jury, and Public Vote.
