Donegal musician narrowly misses out on representing Ireland at Eurovision

DONEGAL musician Aisling Jarvis has narrowly missed out on representing Ireland at the Eurovision Song Contest.

Rocking out on tonight’s Late Late Show Eurosong alongside her “bestie” Ailsha, their entry ‘Go Tobann’ came in second place following tonight’s public vote.

Aisling, who is the daughter of Clannad’s Moya Brennan, is a singer, producer and composer who is based in Dublin.

Despite mainly growing up in Dublin, Aisling said Donegal has always been the place she feels most “connected” to.

“I grew up being in Donegal every other week, and spending our summers up in Gweedore, and it has always been the most magical place for me.

“There is nowhere in the country quite like it, the people, the landscapes, the craic, and even though I’ve travelled the world, Donegal is my favourite place to be!

“I love it so much, that I fell in love and am engaged to a beautiful Donegal woman!,” she said.

On tonight’s show, Aisling accompained Ailsha on guitar as they performed their entry ‘Go Tobann’.

Despite coming second, Aisling described the experienced as being “incredible”.

“I have always loved the Eurovision (the Brennan family have always been mad for the Eurovision), but until you’re in it, it’s hard to grasp quite how huge the fan base for the Eurovision really is!

“The reaction to ‘Go Tobann’ from the wider European Eurovision fans has been so amazing,” she said.

Tonight’s winner, Bambie Thug will now go on to represent Ireland in Malmö, Sweden in May of this year at the 68th Eurovision Song Contest.

She will perform her entry ‘Doomsday Blue’ in front of an audience of over 160 million people worldwide.
