18-YEAR-OLD Glenswilly man Gavin Shevlin was given a hero’s welcome home last night.

The St Eunan’s College student, a son of Michael and Gerlyn Shevlin, returned home a World Champion from the 45th annual World Irish Dancing Championships.

Hundreds turned out to greet his return to the Glenswilly GAA club, where he treated the huge crowd to his talents that saw him rise to the top of the world. A member of Scoil Rince McConomy-Bradley, Gavin won the Men 17-18 category in the competition at the Palais des Congres de Montreal in Canada.

His sister, Niamh, finished 10th in her category.
