Uisce Éireann working on water outages across Donegal with 13 supplies impacted

Uisce Éireann crews are working to restore water supplies in many parts of Donegal that have been impacted by Storm Isha.

The utility company said a number of their plants and pumping stations have been impacted by power outages or poor raw water quality due to flooding. There are currently thirteen supplies impacted across Donegal.

Anthony Skeffington, Uisce Éireann’s Regional Operations Manager, said: “Uisce Éireann has implemented its emergency response processes and is working closely with National Emergency Co-ordination Committee, Local Authorities, ESB and other partners to co-ordinate the national response to address any impact on water supplies due to Storm Isha. For areas where supplies that have been impacted, Uisce Éireann crews are on the ground working to restore supplies as soon as it is possible.

“Several Uisce Éireann water supplies in Inishowen have been impacted by power outages arising from Storm Isha particularly in Culdaff, Carndonagh, Buncrana, Bridgend, Burnfoot, Newtoncunningham and surrounding areas. At its peak, approximately 8,000 customers in Inishowen were affected and a significant number of those will continue to be affected throughout today while we work to restore normal water supply as quickly as possible.

“Other areas affecting in excess of 10,000 customers include Ballybofey-Stranorlar, Glenfin, Convoy, Raphoe and Lifford, the Fanad Peninsula, Rathmullan and Milford, Glenties, Ardara, and Fintown, Lettermacaward, Letterkenny, Portnoo, Rosbeg, Rosses Regional Crolly, Cresslough and Dunfanaghy and South West Donegal including Owenteskina.

Anthony added: “We would like to thank all the crews who have been working overnight and through the morning to carry out repairs throughout the network. We also want to thank impacted customers for their patience as we work to restore normal supplies. The Uisce Éireann website water.ie is updated regularly with local outage information and our contact centre is available 24/7 on 1800 278 278 to support our customers”.

  • Fanad East (Lough Shannagh) Water Treatment Plant
  • Rathmullan Public Water Supply
  • Milford public Water Supply
  • IIIies Pollan Dam Public Water Supply
  • Lough Mourne (Meencrumlin) Public Water Supply
  • Glenties Ardara Public Water Supply
  • Lettermacaward Public Water Supply
  • Rosses Regional Crolly Public Water Supply
  • Creeslough Dunfanaghy Public Water Supply
  • South West Donegal Owenteskina Public Water Supply
  • Tiernaleague Public Water Supply
  • Letterkenny Public Water Supply
