Man arrested following Clonmany hit and run

Gardai investigating a serious hit and run incident in Clonmany this morning have arrested a man.

A male pedestrian was taken to hospital after being struck by a vehicle in Clonmany that occurred on the Main Street at 12.15am.

He was conveyed to Letterkenny University Hospital for treatment of injuries sustained as a result of the collision.

It is understood the injured man has since been transferred to Beaumont Hospital in Dublin.

A male driver of the vehicle, aged in his 30s, was identfied and arrested. He is currently detained under Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act, 1984 at a Garda Station in the Donegal Division.

The road remains closed as a technical examination takes place. Local diversions remain in place.
