The search is on for a new Irish-speaking Soap Star

THE search is on for a New Irish-speaking soap star as one Donegal actor could follow in the footsteps of Gavin Ó Fearraigh, Niall Mac Eachmharcaigh and Bridín Ní Mhaoldomhnaigh on TG4’s award-winning drama Ros na Rún.

The Irish language drama, co-produced by Eo Teilifis and Tyrone Productions, is looking for budding Irish language actors to join their cast.

If you have the cúpla focal and a burning ambition to act, then now’s your chance to join the acting family of one of Ireland’s most popular drama series.

The team behind Ros na Rún are on the look out for both male and female actors to stir things up in the rural village, with some dramatic storylines. Auditions will be held on the set of Ros na Rún in Spiddal, Co Galway. Fluent Irish is essential for all roles.

Actors will take to the same set that saw Stephen Fry make a cameo appearance and that has become home to many familiar faces – indeed viewers couldn’t imagine Ros na Rún without Seamus, one of the characters who has been with the soap for 17 years.

Déirdre Ní Fhlatharta, Series Producer of ‘Ros Na Rún’ said: “Ros na Rún is well known for its great sense of humour which is embedded amongst the darker storylines.

“We’re looking for male and female actors, who can be dynamic and versatile, and has the Star Quality. We have already started storylines for next season and this will bring in some new characters to the ever evolving rural village which never disappoints the viewers by way of Drama, romance, tragedy and plenty of belly laughs.”

Ros na Rún, now in its 17th series, has the unique ability to portray the realities of contemporary Gaeltacht and rural living with humour and intelligence.

Employing over 140 people Ros na Rún broadcasts for 35 weeks of the year, airing two episodes a week on TG4 and receives over 200,000 viewers each week.
