Aisteoirí Ghaoth Dobhair presented their pantomime “Oh, sin Tír na Nóg” from Thursday right through to Sunday last week in the Amharclann.
The production is based on the legendary story of Oisín and Tír na nÓg.
The panto has many twists and turns from start to finish. Oisín is many miles from his beloved Niamh Chinn Óir but he must return to Tír na nÓg soon before anyone else discovers this mysterious land. An adventure filled with love and magic and many challenges to face.
The cast were fantastic and had put on a superb show with lots of naughtiness the whole way through.
Members of Forristal School of Dance and Scoil Rince Mhic Eachamharcaigh’s outstanding performances added much to the panto.
The talented Eoghan Tom a’ Bhungalow Mac Giolla Bhríghde not only wrote the panto but was also a director.
A pantomime is a major undertaking and much credit must go to Eoghan for all the work he put into this production.
Eoghan himself, a hugely talented actor, is a son of the late Tomás Mac Giolla Bhríghde who was one of the leading lights of Aisteoirí Ghaoth Dobhair spanning many years.
Also much credit must go to all the actors who spent long hours rehearsing during the winter months.
It was a highly polished production with stunning backdrops throughout the presentation.
The lovely costumes worn by the actors was another indication of all the hard work involved in the production.
The future of Aiseoirí Ghaoth Dobhair looks bright with young local actors, Fionnuala Nic Aodha Bhuí, Robyn Woods, John Paul Mac Gaothán, Brian Mac Aodha Tarlach Mac Suibhne and Mícheál Eoghan Ó Dochartaigh, all of whom gave an outstanding presentation.
