Housing plan for future needed – Brogan

CLLR Ciaran Brogan has called on Donegal County Council to publish their social housing plans for the next five years.

At Tuesday’s meeting of the Letterkenny/Milford Municipal District, he said the whole area of housing was a “huge bone of contention” and there was a lack of land available.

“Since I put in this motion there has been a full presentation on this,” he said.

“There are 354 units in total and it is important the council publish this plan and what grants are approved.

“We also need to ensure we have the resources to deal with housing applications. There has been frustration in this area because of delays.

Housing is a huge issue for us,” Cllr Brogan added.

Seconding the motion Cllr Jimmy Kavanagh said there had been a huge financial commitment with a huge land bank purchased in the last year.

Cllr John O’Donnell added that it was important to get this positive message out there about the hard work done on this.

“We have committed and are starting to see projects coming through and this is a good news story,” he added.
