Manorcunningham break-in

GARDAI are investigating a break-in Manorcunningham on Wednesday when two men forced their way into the home of an elderly man.

It was around midday when a woman visiting her elderly father heard a bang at the front door. She thought it was someone scheduled to come and read the electricity meter and had gone to get a stool for the meter reader to stand on.

She then heard her father shout from the front room.

The two men, described as having dark hair and being in their late twenties or early thirties ran from thehouse.

They had kicked in the front door and broke the lock in the process. They left empty handed but caused great shock to the father and daughter.

Sergeant Eunan Walsh described the break-in as “very disturbing”.

“We are appealing to anyone who may have seen these men or the silver car they had parked across the road from this house.

“Having broken the lock and entered the house, they fled when they realised there was someone there. Anyone with information can contact gardai in Letterkeny on 0749167100.
