ONE of most experienced and respected artists in the US country music scene pays a visit to The Balor, Ballybofey this Saturday.
Kimmie Rhodes career spans over 30 years. She recorded her first album back in 1981 when no less a figure than Willy Nelson invited her to use his studio.

A prolific artist she has recorded 15 albums over the years. Her multi-platinum selling songs have been recorded by stellar acts such as the aforementioned Willy Nelson, Waylon Jennings, Mark Knopfler and Emmylou Harris and the list of artists she has collaborated with reads like a Who’s Who of American country music. “The soul of a poet and the voice of an angel” is how Rodney Crowell describes her talents.

Kimmie comes to The Balor as part of a UK and Irish tour promoting her new album ‘Covers’. The record – her first since the passing of her long time partner and collaborator Joe Gracey – sees her put down her pen and devote an entire album to the work of other artists who have inspired her. There’s tracks from the likes of Lennon & McCartney, Neil Young, Dylan, Tom Waits, Tom Petty etc.

Kimmie Rhodes plays The Balor Arts Centre, Ballybofey this Saturday October 12th at 8.30pm. Admission is €15 and tickets are available from The Balor Box Office on 0749131840 or online.
