Foynes has been granted €65m for the restoration of rail services to Limerick.

Work on that project has started as has work on rail restorations in Cork.

Five Donegal County Councillors have been appointed to join the Western Inter County Railway Committee (WICRC) to promote the rapid restoration of trunk rail to the Atlantic Rail Corridor.

These are Councillors Gerry Crawford, Jimmy Kavanagh, Michael McClafferty, John McGuinness and Michael McMahon.

They will attend a private meeting of the WICRC in Bundoran this month.

On that agenda are discussions of the draft report of the ‘All-island Strategic Rail Review’ by the ARUP consultants and the ‘Future development of rail in Donegal’.

WURI has been invited to send two representatives to that meeting.
