New MRI scanner delivered to hospital

A NEW state of the art MRI scanner has this week been delivered to Letterkenny University Hospital and it’s hoped it will be operational by December.

The new Philips 1.5 Tesla scanner was delivered on Monday and will be an important addition to the hospital’s Radiology Department. A hospital spokesperson said the new, modern scanner, includes new ambient lighting and has a wider tunnel which will improve patient experience.

“We hope the scanner will be operational by December 2023 and it will replace the temporary mobile MRI scanner brought on site during the enabling works required for the installation and commission of the new scanner,” the spokesperson confirmed.
