Leona’s legacy: “Stolen Dreams” supports charities

In honour of her memory, the late Leona Harper continues to support charities that bravely helped during the 2022 Creeslough tragedy, raising much-needed funds.

A donation of €3,000 has been made to the CRITICAL Emergency Medical Response charity, with another €3,000 presented to K9 Search and Rescue NI. These contributions follow previous donations, including support for SARDA Ireland North.

14-year-old Leona, from Letterkenny, was visiting a friend in Creeslough for a sleepover when the tragic explosion occurred at a local service station on October 7, 2022. Alongside nine others, she lost her life in the incident. Leona was known for her talents in rugby, as well as her love for music, dance, and the outdoors.

Charities involved in the disaster response continue to receive funds through the song “Stolen Dreams,” inspired by Leona. Her parents, Hugh & Donna, moved by the song, decided to share it and use it as a means to raise funds in Leona’s honour. The music and lyrics were crafted by Matt McGranaghan, with vocals by Sophie Gallagher from Manorcunningham and Chris McLaughlin from Ballybofey.
