Féile Cheoil na Carraige celebrates 35 years this weekend

Fiddle

THE ever popular Feíle Cheoil na Carraige this weekend (October 24-27) is celebrating its 35th anniversary and shows no sign of slowing down.

First organised in 1980 as a weekend of traditional music in Carrick during the Halloween bank holiday.

This was a time when there was not the same amount of festivals taking place as there are today and so the festival grew in both musicians and avid fans of the music and the craic.

Over the years the likes of Sharon Shannon, James Byrne, Altan, the Campbells and many, many more top class musicians have graced the Fleadh.

This year sees music all weekend in all the local bars, with Hill-Walking and Set Dancing also part of the festivities this year. Bigí Linn don Ceoil agus an Craic!
