THREE of Ireland’s resident musicians have combined to form a new, virtuosic trio – Treelan.

This groundbreaking trio of percussionist Éamonn Cagney, Donegal native accordionist Martin Tourish, and Nigerian born guitarist Niwel Tsumbu extends beyond the boundaries of Irish traditional music, with African, Jazz and World rhythm influences, infused by a musical electricity, energy and passion that makes for an incredible live show.

Recently featured on RTÉ Radio 1’s Arena, Raidió na Gaeltachta and The Journal of Music in Ireland and sponsored by the Arts Council Deis award in late 2013, the trio completed an innovative project wherein their composition process was documented online for a week in a series of video blogs shot by videographer Colm Walsh.

The public response to Treelan’s online blog and subsequent Irish tour has been outstanding and this, their first welcome visit to Donegal, coincides with a new album of original music to be released in the summer of 2014. Monday 21 July, 8pm, Regional Cultural Centre, Letterkenny. Tickets €15/€12

Earagail Arts Festival is funded by The Arts Council of Ireland, Fáilte Ireland and Donegal County Council. All tickets can be booked at An Grianan Theatre on 00353 74 9120777 or online at eaf.ie.
