COUNTY Donegal will play host to the first ever Irish psych music and art festival when the Distorted Perspectives festival lands in Letterkenny over the May Bank Holiday Weekend.

A jam-packed programme of psychedelic delights boasts four weird and wonderful live music gigs and two spectacular art exhibitions, including the first Donegal appearance from Krautrock legend (and former Can frontman) Damo Suzuki, in collaboration with an ensemble of top local musicians. Just like the slogan says: Up here, it’s different.

The Regional Cultural Centre, Letterkenny is the mothership for activities and the venue for two spectacular gigs: the Damo Suzuki Network and Wild Rocket on Friday, May 2, and the ZZZ’s and The Altered Hours on Saturday, May 3.

The RCC also plays host to a pair of spectacular exhibitions, a group show entitled ‘Distorted Perspectives’ and an exhibition of incredible large scale prints by Keith Connolly.

The Official Opening of the exhibitions will be held on Thursday, May 1 at 7pm, and everyone is invited. It will be followed by the Opening Party on the same evening at Letterkenny’s legendary Cottage Bar with live music by local heroes The Capitol and Joe Slyde.

The Closing Party, at the Greenroom Live on Sunday May 4, sees EIIII and I Heart the Monster Hero bring matters to a suitably noisy end.

Distorted Perspectives is presented by the Regional Cultural Centre in association with the Earagail Arts Festival. Tickets for all events are available at An Grianan Theatre Box Office on 00353 74 20777 or online at regionalculturalcentre.com or eaf.ie. A special weekend ticket covering all 4 gigs can be purchased for €20.
