Criminals target buisnesses in spate of burglaries

GARDAÍ are urging the public to be vigilant for suspicious activity in the wake of a spate of burglaries at businesses in Drumkeen.

Between the hours of 9.45pm and 11.45pm on Tuesday, September 19, a couple of business premises in the Trentaboy area of Drumkeen were entered by three males and motor vehicle batteries were stolen from them.

A garda spokesperson said: “We appeal to anybody who may have observed any suspicious activity in the area on the night of September 19 to make contact with Gardaí in Letterkenny on (074)9167100.”

Gardaí are appealing to the public to contact them immediately should they ever seen any vehicles or people in their area that cause them concern, particularly given the arrival of the darker evenings.

“Unfortunately with the darker evenings we often see a rise in burglaries as criminals like to use the cover of darkness to their advantage so we appeal to everybody to be alert and also to take all necessary security precautions at their homes and businesses.”
