Civic reception to honour Letterkenny Gaels success

A CIVIC reception will be held by Donegal County Council in recognition of the first ever Junior Championship win for Letterkenny Gaels.

Councillor Michael McBride put forward a motion at Tuesday’s Letterkenny Milford Municipal District meeting requesting that a civic reception be given in honour of the success.
“It is a great achievement for the club. Maybe if we wait a few months it might be an Ulster Championship. I wish them well,” Cllr McBride said.

Seconding the motion Councillor Jimmy Kavanagh said “they did great and a great comeback. I am happy to support the motion”.
A Donegal County Council executive responded by stating: “It is custom and practice within the Municipal District that the Mayor makes the decision on who should receive a reception and the order they are hosted.
“The number of receptions which can be delivered annually is also governed by the available budget. If the motion is approved, agreement can be sought with the Mayor to include it in the planned reception schedule”.
Councillor Mayor Donal ‘Mandy’ Kelly said he too was happy to support the motion.
