CROWDS gathered in Voodoo Venue at the weekend for a Charity Country Concert which raised almost €1,500 for Letterkenny Food Bank.

This comes after the charity warned of its concern for this coming winter as the cost of living crisis continues to push up demand.

Hearing the charities cry for help, local musician, Martin Orr decided to make Letterkenny Food Bank the beneficiary of the fundraising concert.

Calling on artists from all over Donegal, Martin organised three hours of non-stop rock and roll.

Speaking to the Donegal News following the charity concert, Martin said it was a very big success.

“Once I announced it on Facebook a lot of people wanted to help.

“The thing I would say about the people here is that they are so generous.

“All they need is a leader to take on something and they will contribute,” he said.

Thanking Martin for coming to their aid, Catherine Carroll, who volunteers at the food bank, said the funds raised mean everything.

“This money means everything to us because at the minute in the current economic situation and the increase in the cost of living people are struggling to make ends meet.

“As a consequence, our numbers have increased and our food supplies are diminishing.

“It means a lot to us to get this donation so we can increase our food supply to meet the needs of the people.

“We are truly grateful,” she said.

Thanking the musicians who attend the concert, Catherine said they were very “generous”.

Catherine concluded by thanking everyone who made a donation and attended the fundraiser on the day.

“Without you it wouldn’t have been a success.

“We are very grateful,” she said.
