Presented by former Minister for Justice Nora Owen, the young contestants answer questions sitting in the famous black chair – just like the grown-up series.

In the first round, each contender has two minutes to answer questions about a specialist subject.

In the second round, each contender has two minutes to answer general knowledge questions.

Episode 1 is the first of five heats as four children from across Ireland compete for a place in the Grand Final.

The first set of juniors hail from Donegal, Cork and Dublin and specialist subjects range from The American Superbowl to the Life and Times of Mary Robinson.

Jack’s specialist subject will be Superbowls 1998-2012. Jack plays Gaelic Football for Robert Emmet’s and plays soccer, basketball and tennis.

He plays Mastermind on TV at home with his parents. He is inspired by Bill Gates, Steve Jobs and his mum, who he says is the smartest ‘girl I know’. He also loves watching American Football and playing video games.
