Campaign launched to retain services at busy Lifford charity

DUE to a lack of funding, concern has been expressed regarding the future of a key charity in Lifford that provides important community services to a broad area.

The Lifford Clonleigh Resource Centre is set to lose its Project Coordinator in June because money has dried up.

The job of the coordinator is to oversee the day-to-day running of the building, at Croaghan Heights, and so the role is considered vital.

“We’re losing our coordinator so it’s a case of looking for that wee pocket of money to keep things going. Given that we’re coming up to local elections perhaps that will help our cause. All we can do is try our best,” said a spokesperson.

“We don’t want to overwhelm people with information so there will be a 5-minute presentation next Thursday from our current coordinator and she will explain to those in attendance why the services provided are so important.

“It’s the first time we’ve launched a campaign like this so it’s a case of all hands on deck. It’s being organised by the Lifford and Castlefinn Community Health Forum along with the Lifford Clonleigh Resource Centre,” added the spokesperson.

Organisers are hoping that invited politicians and media representatives will attend the event on this day next week, Thursday 9, at noon, in the Lifford Resource Centre.
