Weather to remain unsettled for the next few days

Last night Met Éireann upgraded Donegal’s yellow weather warning to an orange weather warning, following heavy showers and intense thunderstorms across the county.

A number of households also reported power outages.

The warning came with an increased risk of thunderstorms and very heavy showers that could lead to flash flooding, difficult travelling conditions with reduced visibility and power outages.

A spokesperson for Met Éireann said the county is looking at the possibility of more heavy showers today (Monday). This will continue through Tuesday and Wednesday.

The spokesperson also said there is a chance of some thunderstorms this morning that might pick up later in the afternoon.

On Tuesday and Wednesday there will be widespread heavy showers and thunderstorms.

On Thursday there will be a break in the weather with dry spells and settled conditions, but don’t hang your clothes out to dry just yet as this will be short lived. The heavy rain will return again on Friday morning and continue through the weekend.

Throughout the week temperatures are set to remain in the high teens and low twenties. This comes hand in hand with the thundery showers.

“In general there is really very little settled weather on the cards throughout the week,” the spokesperson added.
