Traditional music, songs and dance at Féile Cheoil Chill Chartha

A WEEK-long festival of traditional music, songs and dance, celebrating the living heritage of traditional music in South West Donegal, Féile Cheoil Chill Chartha, the Kilcar Fleadh takes place from August 4 to 11.

The events will include Concerts, Céilí, Crossroads dance, Music, song and dance workshops, ‘Echoes in the Glen’ – a music recital featuring fiddles and pipes in the Gleann a’Bhaile Dubh, recreating a tradition from the first half of the 20th century.

There will be a heritage and craft display on Wednesday, 7th at Áislann Chill Chartha. The Fleadh starts off with a great concert Sunday, August 4 with Paddy Glackin and Donal Lunny in the Blue Haven Hotel, concert begins 9pm.

Workshops available from Monday 5th – Friday, 9th in the following: Fiddle – Aidan O’Donnell, Stephen Gallagher and Peter Carr, Accordion – Tom Byrne, Guitar – Derek Williamson, singing – Patricia Flynn, tin whistle – Kieran Munnelly, Irish language, Dancing – Clement Gallagher.
