Three call-outs for Arranmore RNLI in busy week

It’s been a busy start to the new year for the Arranmore RNLI all weather lifeboat crew who had three call-outs in the first days of 2024.

All three calls sought assistance for medical evacuations from the island.

The first call out was on Tuesday morning, January  2 at 11.09am to transfer a patient to Burtonport to a waiting ambulance.

On Thursday  at 08.30am the lifeboat crew were again called to a medical evacuation but they were stood down within minutes as Coastguard Rescue 118 was tasked to assist in the evacuation.

The third call was on Friday at 8pm, again to assist in a further medical evacuation from the island.

Coxswain Jimmy Early said: “We are happy to assist with all emergencies and would like to pay tribute to the Coastguard Rescue 118 personnel for their commitment to not only the people of Arranmore but to responding to all emergencies.

“It is a privilege to work alongside this vital service.”
