THE Balor, Ballybofey has announced the line-up for this month’s Ghostlight Sessions with The Savage Hearts – headed up by former Strypes drummer Evan Walsh – set to headline.
Now in its 9th year The Ghostlight Sessions is one of the country’s longest running established original emerging music nights. Each night features three 30 minute sets performed by some of Ireland’s best new musical talent.
Joining The Savage Hearts on the bill for May’s Ghostlight Sessions are indie-pop duo The Hopeful Kind and Ballybofey singersongwriter Patrick McMenamin.

The band have also played several prestigious venues across the Irish gigging scene including a celebrated performance with The Boomtown Rats in July 2023.
The Hopeful Kind are a Donegal based indie pop duo comprising of vocalistsongwriters Cara Ward and Ruth Teeling.
The duo’s debut single Wherever You Go was released in February 2024 receiving local and national radio play. Their latest single Close To You secured them a place as finalists in Hot Press’ A New Local Hero competition.
Patrick McMenamin, a seasoned performer from Ballybofey, combines soulful vocals, honest songwriting, and expressive guitar work to create a sound that’s both raw and heartfelt. After years of playing live and refining his craft, he’s now ready to release his original music to the world. He is currently working on his debut EP, set for release later this year.
