TG4’s An Samhradh Linn returns to our screens on Thursday, July 4, for a third series, when host Síle Ní Bhraonáin is back in Donegal to bring us the finest traditional music, up-and-coming talent, local cuisine and heritage attractions the county has to offer – all highlighting the multitude of exciting options available to so many of us who will holiday at home this year.

Síle visits the famous McCafferty’s Bar just outside Letterkenny, where local musicians Martin McGinley, Róna McLaughlin, Barry McLaughlin, Edel McLaughlin and John Lee regale us with the best of traditional Irish music.

Rising stars Gráinne (10) and her sister Róise (7) Ní Dhomhnaill (daughters of Henry and Sinéad O’Donnell) enthral us with their stunning voices, while legendary whistle player Michael Carey shows us how it’s done, accompanied by Frank Doherty on guitar.
And Kathleen O’Donnell from Manorcunningham demonstrates Maggie Pickens – a traditional sean-nós dance associated with the North West of the country.

Síle also drops in on The Quiet Moment Tea Rooms & Sandwich Bar in Letterkenny, where chef Kate Buchanan shows how to prepare the best sandwich in town.
An Samhradh Linn accompanies Caitlín Nic Aoidh and Seán Ó Baoill as they explore Glebe House and Gallery, home of the Derek Hill art collection.

A Regency House built in 1828, Glebe House is set in woodland gardens and decorated with William Morris textiles and Islamic and Japanese art.
The collection includes 300 works by leading 20th century artists, such as Picasso and Kokoshka, as well as Irish and Italian artists.

And An Samhradh Linn also visits Coláiste na Rosann Irish summer college in Annagry, where we sample the many activities students there enjoy.
Thugamar Féin an Samhradh Linn is the Irish song which gives this TG4 programme its name. Síle Ní Bhraonáin and all the crew look forward to once again bringing the summer to you! You can see An Samhradh Linn on TG4 every Thursday at 8.30pm, and online at www.tg4.ie. The series kicks off on July 4, in this first visit to the beautiful county of Donegal. Bí Linn!
