Tara’s Donegal story epitomises perfect work-life balance

BY JEROME HUGHES

THE ongoing expansion of fiber-powered broadband in Donegal will play a vital role in attracting entrepreneurs to the county, offering the promise of a better work-life balance, according to analysts.

Campaigners say addressing crucial needs like affordable housing, improved healthcare services, better childcare facilities, and a more sophisticated transportation network would further enhance Donegal’s appeal.

Entrepreneur Tara McCormack, originally from Offaly, has overcome such challenges, finding success and contentment in Killybegs.

“Donegal is my digital oasis where work meets wanderlust in perfect harmony,” she proclaims.

Tara’s decision to settle in Donegal was influenced by meeting local singer-songwriter John Doherty which she describes as a classic tale of love guiding her direction in life.

“I met my reason for relocating to Donegal. It’s a classic tale of boy meets girl, and from there, the story writes itself,” she said.

Establishing herself in Killybegs, Tara pursues a dynamic career, working remotely as a journalist for RSVP magazine and hosting the “iLoveIrish” show on iRadio during weekends, earning two IMRO Radio Awards along the way.

Recently launching her venture, ‘Settle Petal’, Tara offers online coaching services focusing on building self-confidence and self-esteem, drawing on her diverse background in media and holistic practices.

“I have the best of both worlds where my working week consists of writing stories and connecting with new people from any location online plus I travel to the midlands at the weekends for my show and I get to see my own family as they are close by.

“While I’m tapping on my keyboard and connecting with people online, I’m also soaking in the serene beauty of Donegal’s landscapes, enjoying the solitude of its beaches, and savouring the culinary delights,” she added.

Balancing her professional commitments with leisure activities, Tara enjoys the scenic beauty of Donegal’s landscapes, its tranquil beaches, and local cuisine.

While she also talks very positively about Donegal town and Letterkenny, Tara cherishes Fintra beach, just a short distance from her home.

“It’s like having a postcard-perfect retreat within arm’s reach. Here I am, counting my lucky stars.”
