Talk on the mysterious drowning of Bella Brooks

THE next meeting of the Ballybofey, Stranorlar and District Historical Society will take place in the Henderson Hall (F93 XV29) Stranorlar on Monday, January 26 at 8pm.

This month’s special guest speaker is Rev Raymond Blair and the talk is entitled ‘The mysterious drowning of Bella Brooks in 1876.’

Rev Blair will examine the historical background to the ballad about the drowning of Bella Brooks, and also try to establish what really happened to her, why her body, dressed in her wedding outfit, ended up floating in the River Finn at Doneyloop.
