A CHARITY ‘Armygeddon’ boxing night featuring soldiers from Finner Camp takes place in Letterkenny next month in order to raise funds for a young couple whose six-month-old son is undergoing treatment for a very rare and aggressive form of cancer.
Little Caolan Melaugh was just 10-weeks-old when his parents, Gerard and Stacey from Killygordon, received the devastating news that he had Stage 4 high risk Neuroblastoma.
The baby is currently going through treatment in Our Lady Hospital Crumlin and will receive high intensity chemotherapy over the next 18 months which will, hopefully, get him cancer free.
However, patients with Neuroblastoma have an 80 per cent chance of relapse. Treatment in Ireland for relapse cases is very limited which means, he could need other treatment outside of Ireland in Europe or USA. This would involve numerous overseas trips.
The white collar boxing event, featuring Gerard’s army colleagues based at Finner, will take place in the Clanree Hotel, Letterkenny on Friday, July 17.
Doors open at 7 pm with the first bout at 8 pm and music will be provided by Highland Radio’s DJ Joe Deckz.
Tickets priced at €15 are currently on sale now and can be purchased from participating fighters, any solider based at Finner Camp.
