THE Bank Holiday Weekend may have come to an end but Gardaí from Letterkenny Roads Policing Unit are reminding motorists that checkpoints continue.
Today, two multi agency checkpoints were conducted which resulted in a series of arrests.
At the first checkpoint, a driver was arrested this morning in the Letterkenny area after they failed a roadside breath test.
This driver had been socialising the previous night.
They now face a disqualification of three months and a €200 fine.
A driver was then arrested on suspicion of drug driving in the Killygordon area in the afternoon at the second checkpoint after they tested positive for cannabis.
Another driver failed to stop at the checkpoint in Killygordon and they then also failed to stop for Gardaí when signalled to do so.
They were stopped a short time later with assistance from multiple Garda Units.
The driver was arrested for road traffic offences and has been held in custody to appear in Court.
Following today’s arrests, Gardaí urged motorists not to drive irresponsibly.
“You could end up being responsible for someone else’s death.
“It really is that simple,” a spokesperson concluded.
