Ryan Flood transfers to Phoenix Rising

Finn Harps have announced that Ryan Flood has transferred back to Phoenix Rising in the United States.

The American signed a two-year-deal at Finn Harps last year from the USL Championship side and scored 14 goals in all competitions as he ended the season as top goal scorer.

At the end of the 2023 season, the club confirmed that Flood, along with Seamas Keogh, both expressed their desire to work in full-time environments, with Finn Harps willing to listen to offers.

As pre-season began, Flood was still involved with the club and played a big role in the friendlies, with manager Darren Murphy saying no offers had come in for the 25-year-old.

However, one day before the opening weekend of the First Division season, Flood returned to America indefinitely on compassionate leave.

Phoenix Rising announced on Thursday the return of the midfielder.

Finn Harps released a statement saying: “The club can confirm the transfer of Ryan Flood to Phoenix Rising FC. Everyone at Finn Park wishes to thank Floody for his efforts last season and wish him all the best.”

Flood told Phoenix Rising club media: “Credit to (Finn Harps). They allowed me to come home and work through some personal stuff. They made it nice for me to be able to come home and be closer to family.

“Last year was a great experience, to go and play and see that part of the world.”
