Rents rise by almost twenty per cent over the last year

A new report form the Residential Tenancies Board (RTB) has highlighted that Donegal recorded the second highest yearly growth in the standardised average rent for new tenancies in the county.

The report recorded an increase of close to 20 per cent in the last year.

In the final quarter of 2022 the counties average was €827 compared to €706 in the same period of 2021. This is a jump of 17.1 per cent year on year.

This is the second highest increase in the country after Longford where an increase of 18.5 per cent was recorded.

In the same period one Donegal LEA also recorded the lowest standardised average rent for new tenancies. The Lifford-Stranorlar electoral area was the lowest in the country at €714.

In contrast, Dundrum, Dublin recorded the highest standardised average rent for new tenancies at €2,541.
