Rentokil reports significant increase in rodent activity in Northwest

Rentokil, Ireland’s leading pest control provider, has reported a sharp increase in rodent infestations in the Northwest.

Recent statistics indicate a 60 per cent rise in mouse-related activity and a seven per cent increase in rat activity in January 2025 compared to the same period last year.

Colm Moore, Regional Technical Manager for Rentokil, said: “The surge in rodent infestations across the Northwest region underscores the importance of early detection and effective prevention.

“Mice, in particular, have seen a significant increase in activity, which can lead to extensive property damage and health concerns.

“Property owners should be vigilant in identifying signs of rodent activity, such as droppings, scratching noises, and gnawed materials.

“Rentokil urges all property owners to take preventative action by sealing potential entry points, maintaining proper sanitation, and installing rodent-proofing solutions like Flexi Armour.”

Rodents continue to pose a significant threat to residential and commercial properties, causing structural damage and creating health risks.

The colder winter months drive these pests indoors, increasing the likelihood of infestations.
