Patient Wait Pays Off As Donegal Punter Lands €10,000 Horse Racing Windfall

A patient Horse Racing punter in County Donegal is toasting a healthy festive payday after Monday’s King George at Kempton ended a lengthy wait for a five-figure haul.

The anonymous winner showed some incredible foresight in a BoyleSports shop in August by striking a €12.50 treble and another €10 each-way treble on three horses in the antepost markets, making for a total investment of €32.50.

The road to riches began when 8/1 pick Minzaal won the Sprint Cup at Haydock at the beginning of September and the second leg of the treble was ticked off a month later when Alpinista landed the Prix de l’Arc de Triomphe in Paris having been picked out at 6/1.

That left a nervous wait until St Stephen’s Day, where another 6/1 selection Bravemansgame stood in the way of a significant return in the King George at Kempton.

But Paul Nicholls’ charge didn’t disappoint as rival L’Homme Presse unseated his jockey at the final fence to leave the coast clear for a spectacular third prediction to land.

The 14-length victory in the big race allowed the savvy punter in Donegal to return to the shop and swap their betslip for a stunning total of €10,048.34.

Lawrence Lyons, spokesperson for BoyleSports said fair play to our customer in County Donegal who was happy to wait a few months for their bet to come good.

“With over €10,000 in the bank, it was a spectacular way to see out the year and we send our congratulations on a very shrewd prediction,” he said.
