New hospital senior manager to start in spring

A new senior manager to help address governance issues at Letterkenny University Hospital has been appointed and will take up the role in spring.

The move follows a series of workshops facilitated by consultancy firm Ernst & Young (EY) last year held between Saolta management and hospital staff. They were held in response to a damning report by the Health Information and Quality Authority (HIQA) which found weaknesses in oversight arrangements and governance structures at the hospital.

The post had been expected to be filled before Christmas, but speaking to the Donegal News, Saolta CEO Tony Canavan confirmed the person appointed has accepted the job offer and will be in post in spring.

The new senior manager will work with both the Saolta Health Care Group and Letterkenny University Hospital on implementing an action plan to ensure the continuous improvement of services delivered at the hospital.
