Condolences were extended this morning to a close relative of two of the Ardee crash victims at Ballyshannon District Court.
Judge Kevin Kilrane said Geoffrey McGonagle, an administrator for the courts in County Donegal, had lost his mother and sister in the tragedy.
Judge Kilrane said he was shocked to hear of the tragedy when Mr McGonagle’s relatives were returning from holiday.
He said: “I extend my sympathy to all relatives involved in the tragedy, and especially to Geoffrey who we all know for a long time.”
The judge said that on Monday in Donegal town court all cases listed for hearing will be vacated and he will only proceed with absolutely urgent matters.
He said: “It will be a mark of respect to Geoffrey who has lost his mother and sister. It was terrible news. I don’t know details of the third party.”
Supt Colm Nevin, Court Clerk Treena Hever and Florence Hutchinson (for local solicitors), and barrister Johnny McCoy also offered condolences.
Ms Hutchinson said: “Geoffrey is wonderful colleague and he has suffered dreadful loss.”
