John’s knowledge of social enterprise has also been recognised through his contributions to various initiatives.

He has served as a member of ILDN’s Social Enterprise Working Group, authored a three year social enterprise policy for Donegal and acted as a judge for Social Entrepreneurs Ireland’s Ideas Academy.

SERI Chairperson, Fergus Finlay said as the new CEO of SERI, John is committed to leveraging his experiences to support the growth and development of social enterprises in Ireland.

“He understands the challenges and opportunities facing social enterprises in the country, particularly smaller organisations which make up the vast majority of social enterprises in Ireland.

“To best serve the sector, SERI must work in complete collaboration with social enterprise practitioners and other social enterprise support organisations.

“The Board of SERI is excited to welcome John to the team and looks forward to his leadership in driving the organisation’s mission of promoting and supporting social enterprise in Ireland,” he said.
