ALMOST two weeks after Storm Éowyn wrecked havoc, the ESB has said there are less than 100 customers without power in Donegal.
While these customers have faced a lengthy wait to have their power restored, the figure is down significantly from the peak of 87,000 when the storm was at its height on Friday, January 24.
ESB Networks has said crews are continuing to work through remaining faults.
They are also continuing to advise the public around safety as they work to resolve all faults.
“We still have many faults on the electricity network and have been made aware of several instances of potentially very dangerous incidents where members of the public have unknowingly approached fallen electricity infrastructure, particularly in the worst impacted areas of the country. Following a significant weather event like Storm Éowyn, fallen debris can prevent people from seeing hidden risks such as wires entangled into trees and branches.”
Anyone who comes across fallen wires or damaged electricity network is urged to never touch them or approach them as they are live and extremely dangerous.
Damage to electricity infrastructure can be reported by calling 1800 372 999.
