AFTER nearly two months of intensive training, Jive Alive will finally take place over two nights at Aislann Rann na Feirste this weekend.
With the emergence of Jiving once again in the country, Naomh Mhuire GAA Club were inspired to run a show involving local characters and Jiving lovers.
The event has been organised to fund an ambitious development which will see additional changing facilities and match standard floodlights at their home in Mullaghderg, Kincasslagh.
This work commences this month and over €140,000 is needed to complete the project which will see a massive investment for the youth of the area.
Jive Alive sets out to capture the original Jiving from the USA together with the popularity in recent years of the Irish Jiving styles.
Both the American and Irish styles of Jiving will be on show in the Aislann tonight (Friday) and Saturday and the dancers have put in hours of practise behind the scenes.
The driving forces behind this year’s event, Mairead Hanlon and John Gillespie, complimented the dancers for the effort over the past two months.
John Gillespie, Finance Chairman, said: “These nights are always a great piece of entertainment and the buzz and excitement in the run up and on the night are a highlight of the year.”
Tomorrow night’s show, April 13, is already a sell out, and tickets were selling very well for tonight (Friday), but there will also be entry at the door on the night.
