DONEGAL manager Declan Bonner says it will be ‘do-or-die’ when his side clash with Tyrone on Sunday.
For the first time since 2000, there will be no safety net of the qualifiers to fall back on if Donegal lose to their neighbours.
That heightens the pressure of the match, and while there will be no spectators allowed to watch the drama unfold, it still should make for a tense afternoon.
Bonner says his team have invested a huge amount of time and effort this year and they don’t want to fall at the first hurdle.
“It’s do-or-die on Sunday. There’s no room for error,” said Bonner.
“If we don’t perform the season will be over. It’s as simple as that.
“The Ulster Championship is a very important competition for us, and in normal circumstances, you wouldn’t be thinking about the back door anyway. You’d be hoping to do it in the most straight-forward way.
“So nothing has changed in that regard. We want to get through to an Ulster Championship semi-final and to do that we have to beat Tyrone.”
