Devlin strikes late as Naomh Muire win Junior title

Gaoth Dobhair 3-8 Naomh Muire 1-15

Daniel Devlin scored a sensational last-gasp goal as Naomh Muire eventually saw off Gaoth Dobhair’s second string after extra-time in today’s Donegal Junior Gaeltacht final today.

Oisin Ó Duibhir notched a goal for Gaoth Dobhair in the first half but Naomh Muire led by 0-8 to 1-3 at the break with Eoin Martin and Harry Harden in good form.

The second half was low in quality but Naomh Muire moved four points ahead with eight minutes to go.

Gaoth Dobhair hit back with two points before Ó Duibhir netted his second goal.

That left Naomh Muire on behind but Eoin Martin sent the match to extra-time with a 62nd minute free.

Gaoth Dobhair outscored their neighbours by 1-2 to 0-1 in the first half of the addtional time with Mark McFadden grabbing the goal.

The Magheragallon side should have killed off the match but Naomh Muire were able to reduce their deficit to two and then Devlin slapped the ball into the net as Danny O’Donnell’s men claimed the victory.

They will now go on to represent the county at the All-Ireland Championships in June in Cork.
