Incredible run of success for Filligans at Blas na hÉireann Irish Food Awards

A DONEGAL artisan food producer has scooped a whopping four awards at the prestigious Blas na hÉireann Irish Food Awards which took place in Kerry last weekend.

Glenties based company ‘Filigans’ won Gold for its Tomato and Chilli Relish, Gold for its Tomato Kasundi Chutney and Bronze for its Sundried Tomato Wholegrain Mustard with Balsamic.

They also took home Best In County for the second time since 2021.

The Irish Food Awards is celebrating its 16th year and the competition saw the highest number of entries with almost 3,000 products.

Making award-winning preserves, marmalades, mustards, relishes, chutneys, dressing and oils for almost 30 years, Filigans’ range now includes 50 different products.

While Filligans is no stranger to the hall of fame, the company’s director, Willie Cremen says it’s a great honour to be recognised at a national level.

“The Irish Food Awards is the biggest competition for quality Irish produce, so we’re thrilled to have won three individual awards and Best in County.

“Our Tomato and Chilli Relish and Tomato Kasundi Chutney are two new products to our range so to get the judges’ seal of approval with gold is just fantastic.

“These awards are a credit to our longstanding team who have been the driver in creating these amazing tasting products – it’s a real team effort.

“We have never had such a positive response at Blas, so we are thrilled,” he said.

Still using traditional farmhouse methods to create their products, Willie said you can expect 100 per cent natural every time you choose Filligans.

“Here at Filligans we are always looking to improve our range, particularly with new product developments that meet the demands of new tastes.

“Our products can be enjoyed in various ways, but most popular ways are served on crafted sandwiches, toasties and indeed enjoyed with sausage rolls,” he said.

Filligans is available in various craft shops, delicatessens and cafes around Donegal, and you can shop the range online at www.filligans.ie.
