The first half was a tame affair, with neither Harps goalkeeper Richard Brush, nor Galway netminder Conor Winn having to make a save of note.

Harps started the second half with much better tempo and Tommy McMonagle headed a good chance wide, while Keith Cowan almost poked the ball to the net.

Ollie Horgan’s men were the better team in the second half and they took the lead when Houston fired into the bottom corner after receiving a pass from Josh Mailey.

Colm Horgan smashed a shot against the post as Galway tried to get an equaliser, but Harps held on and they are now seventh in the league table.
